About the Band

Òr: Scottish Gaelic meaning "gold"

Òr has 3 core members; Fiona, Alex and Mark. Between them they play guitar, fiddle, pipes and whistle and generate a unique sound, excellent for both dancing and listening to.

Fiona and Alex grew up in the Highlands of Scotland and played together for a number of years before moving to Edinburgh to study. Fiona met Mark while they were both studying MA Celtic Studies at the University of Edinburgh, and after this meeting the band was formed.

As well as the 3 core members, we regularly invite guest artists to play with the band for larger events. We often work with acclaimed singers, harpists, pianists and accordionists. We are happy to tailor our music to perfectly suit your event.
